Happy Sunday peeps! As I am checking things off my list today, I thought I would hop on here and share my ‘Sunday reset’ with you.
My Sunday reset is really what helps me be successful during the week to meet my goals. Not every day is going to be perfect and run according to plan, but if I’m prepared I can adapt and adjust and still win the week.
First up, I try to think ahead to see if there are any scheduled events or activities that are taking place that will take me out of my normal routine. Making sure to plan for that is important. For instance, I know this Friday I will be in the office and not at home. If I want to stick to my meal plan – I’m going to have to pack a lunch. I might need to make a quick store run so I make sure I have everything I need.
Next, what’s my health and wellness goals for the week. For me, this is pretty much the same every week. I am going to lift 4 days and have 2 active recovery days. I’m starting a new strength program this week, so I need to map out my workouts so when I walk into the gym I’m ready to go and not wasting time trying to figure out where to start.
Do your laundry on the weekend and prep your food. Because I said so…
JK – do it, but here’s why. More than anything, I need to make sure my gym clothes are washed and put away so when I am half asleep getting dressed at 3:30 am I’m not trying to search for things. On most days, I can get up, dressed and out my door in 15 minutes but this only happens when I am prepared (and not f-ing around). Also, living in Houston means the weather is schizophrenic at best. If we are having a cold snap or a heat wave, I make sure I have weather appropriate clothes washed and ready to go.
For the gym, I mix my pre-workout and other supplements the night before and sit it by the sink. I also re-fill my water bottle and put my socks and shoes near the garage door. I need to minimize the noise in the morning so I can get out the door on time and without waking up my family, especially my tiny terror LOL! This makes mornings a no-brainer and it makes it a little bit easier to get up when my alarm goes off because I’ve set myself up to succeed!
Prepping food on the weekends makes all the difference in staying on my meal plan. As I have written to you before, I prep ingredients not meals. When I get caught up in the day with meetings or I’m in the flow, having to stop and think hard about what I’m going to eat can derail me. I will pick up the quickest thing (which normally means something high calorie and low nutritional value) and then regret it later. When I prep my food, I can quickly weigh it, throw it in a bowl, heat and eat in less than 10 minutes and I know this is going to meet my macro goals for the day.
I have kiddos and a husband too so I serve as the unofficial family project manager. In order for me to keep myself on track it’s also helpful for me to help them make sure they are prepared for the week as well. Quick reminders of events and activities, making sure their laundry is done and etc. just helps the week run as smooth as possible.
That’s it! Make the plan and execute. It’s really that simple. Think about things that you may need to plan for or around. This will help you be super confident going into the week aaaannnnddd, you’ll be so proud of yourself that your current self looked out for your future self. Rinse and repeat every week. I believe in you – you got this!
I hope this helps! If so, let me know in the comments. Until next time…
xo, Siara
