con·tent·ment
/kənˈtentmənt/
noun
a state of happiness and satisfaction.
The world (especially social media) has a nasty habit of making us feel as though there is always something bigger, better, greater, if you just do this or that. But there is something very special about contentment. Contentment is not the same as settling. Being content is accepting where you are, being grateful for that space. Being at peace and knowing that you are right where you’re supposed to be and that we are all a work in progress.
Now, don’t be mistaken…you still have to hustle for the things you want. Don’t settle. There is a sweet spot in contentment. Being content allows you to reflect on what you have accomplished and how far you have come. All the things you were capable of achieving, especially when people doubted you (or you doubted yourself..shame on you!) Sometimes it’s not what you do, it’s the how. Being humble will never go out of style. Life is short and as quickly as you gain something it can be taken away. Don’t ever get so comfortable that you begin to become arrogant or your ego becomes inflated. There will always be someone out there that’s smarter, better looking, with a broader vocabulary and a bigger network. You aren’t one in a million, baby you are one of a kind! No one can do YOU better than YOU!
Take time out today to think about where you are. How far you’ve come, and where you want to go. Start a journal or a brag list for those times when you forget just who you are! I’ll catch you later on your pursuit of happiness. 😉✌🏾💋
